She should have double checked

One of the golden rules when getting a tattoo in another language is to understand what it means before committing.

But, unfortunately, this Australian TikToker missed that memo.

Amy Dickinson, a popular creator with over 95,000 followers, uploaded a video of herself crying, asking her fans for help with her tattoo that she got in Fiji.

“I didn’t know that Fijians could be so mean, because now I’ve got a tattoo and I don’t even know what it means, So can someone tell me what I have on my body, please?”

Turning the camera to show her tattoo, she cried: “Okay, this is my tattoo. What does that even mean?”

The tattoo read ‘Matanivola Levu,’ which was inked on her upper thigh.

Thankfully, it’s hidden from most people’s view. In a follow-up video, she explained that it was part of her “fun, spontaneous” personality, and jokingly admitted it was “so brat coded” of her to agree to a tattoo in a language she didn’t understand.

With the help of her followers, she soon discovered what the phrase actually meant.

One person commented: “That’s ‘capital letter’ in Fijian”.

She confirmed, saying that this translation seemed accurate, thanks to her trusty friend, Google Translate.

Another fan chimed in with a humorous observation: “That’s actually hilarious – it says ‘capital letters’ but it’s all lower case… Brilliant.”

But some suggested there was a deeper meaning behind the phrase. One user commented: “‘Big Book’ in Fijian can translate to mean you have many stories to tell, which is a way of saying you have many adventures.”

Another person added: “Matanivola levu means that you are like a big book which is like you have so many stories to share n tell it’s nothing bad dw”

She’s revealed the tattoo in multiple videosTikTok/@amzdicko

Some viewers even questioned if the tattoo was real at all, but Amy posted another video, clarifying that she “wished” it were fake, but unfortunately, the ink is here to stay.

In the clip, she stood in front of a mirror, lifting her shorts to show the tattooed Fijian words.

So, the key takeaway? Always double-check the meaning before making anything permanent!
