Just When You Thought “Don’t Stop Believin’” Couldn’t Get Any Better, Journey’s Live Performance Comes Along To Prove You Wrong. This Legendary Band Knows Exactly How To Electrify The Stage, Leaving Everyone In The Audience Singing Along And Feeling The Infectious Energy Of Their Timeless Anthem.

California rock legends Journey have been rocking for over 50 years, and they’re still going strong. They proved it once again with a powerful performance of their classic hit “Don’t Stop Believin’” at the Las Vegas Grand Prix opening ceremony on November 15, 2023. Since 2007, Filipino singer Arnel Pineda has been the lead vocalist, but some fans might still think of him as the “new guy.”

For anyone doubting Pineda’s abilities, his Grand Prix performance surely put those concerns to rest. His voice perfectly fits Journey’s sound, and while his vocals sometimes resemble the legendary Steve Perry’s, Pineda brings his own unique touch to the music, making it feel fresh, not just like a tribute.

“Don’t Stop Believin’” is a challenging song, but Pineda nailed it effortlessly. His flawless performance was backed by the band’s top-notch musicianship, with guitarist Neal Schon’s electrifying solo being a standout moment. Fans loved the show, with over 1.4 million views on YouTube, and praised Pineda’s incredible voice. Comments like “Arnel keeps the heart of Journey beating” and “Those high notes are still there after all these years” poured in.

Pineda’s journey with the band has led to several hit performances, including a fan-favorite live version of “Faithfully” in his hometown of Manila. While Steve Perry led Journey during their most successful years from 1977 to 1998, his departure due to health issues in 1998 left room for Pineda to step in and shine. Since joining in 2007, Pineda has released three albums with the band, starting with the Platinum-certified *Revelation* in 2008.
